  2. APPLEWORKS ENTHUSIAST (AWE)
  3. =     TAWUG is still very active.  I have duplicated over 700 :
  4. 8disks this month alone (and December is not over).  I'm 9
  5. 7hoping that things settle down a little so I can get a ?
  6. =chance to try out some of my new programs (MouseTalk) and do :
  7. 8all my upgrades to AppleWorks with AutoWorks, Checkmate ;
  8. 9software, and Pinpoint.  Hopefully I can do some of this 
  9. over the holiday break.
  10. =     I have had to make a few changes in the way TAWUG works =
  11. ;lately, just to try to preserve my sanity.  First, is that @
  12. >we are pushing the regional rep program as much as possible.  =
  13. ;The regional reps are people who have agreed to distribute ;
  14. 9disks in their immediate areas.  Generally, this happens >
  15. <through a local user group, but not always.  I will include =
  16. ;a list of the current regional reps below.  Second, I have =
  17. ;stopped taking advance orders for template disks.  I can't >
  18. <guarantee any timeline for when the next disk will be ready ?
  19. =due to circumstances beyond my control (such as when members <
  20. :send templates).  Thus orders pile up and get unwieldy in <
  21. :the small corner of the basement that I have taken over.  ?
  22. =Instead, if you want notification of the release of the next ?
  23. =disk, send a SASE and I will mail it to you when the disk is ?
  24. =ready.  And third, TAWUG will no longer accept your disks on :
  25. 8which to copy templates.  The reason for this is simply =
  26. ;time.  I can copy 50 disks (100 sides) in under 20 minutes :
  27. 8using Locksmith 6.0 fast copy and my RAM card.  To copy ;
  28. 9individual disks takes a lot more time.  Also, with disk =
  29. ;orders, it often takes more time to package the disks than 9
  30. 7to copy them since I have to scrape off old stamps and >
  31. <addresses.  Since the charge is only $3 per disk, hopefully >
  32. <this won't be a hardship to anyone.  (The only exception to >
  33. <disk copies will be individual disks sent with template for 7
  34. TAWUG.  Then I'll still copy a single template disk.)

  67. C     I would like to see more donations from members of macros for O
  68. MAppleWorks, either using MacroWorks, Autoworks, or KeyPlayer.   I think that P
  69. Nthe concept of the macros is universal enough that they can be changed to run O
  70. Mon any of the 3 programs.  To get the ball rolling, here are a couple that I ;
  71. use.  I use AutoWorks, so that is the format they are in.
  72. ~S:<A-S><~D><RETURN><R><A-S><RETURN><~D><DOWN><RETURN><R>
  73. MThis macro (closed apple/control/s) does an automatic save of a file to both P
  74. Ndisk drives for backup purposes.  (You do make backups of all important files O
  75. Mdon't you.)   I usually don't keep many backups, I can't afford to double my N
  76. Lcollection of disks.  However, I do keep 2 copies of the catalog/membership O
  77. Mdisk and this is when I use this macro.    I use this macro with my RAM card K
  78. I(1 meg) but it can be used with 55K also.  With the meg card, I load the P
  79. Ndatabase functions into memory so I can use both disk drives for data disks.  I
  80. GThen the control/closed apple/s is saved.  The macro saves to drive 2, N
  81. Lchanges the disk drive I can use (~d  is a macro supplied with AutoWorks to O
  82. Mchange disk drive), saves to current drive, changes disk drive back to 2 and J
  83. Hresumes where I left off.  If you only have 55K, when you start a save, P
  84. NAppleWorks goes to the program disk before it starts to save the first time.  O
  85. MAfter it accesses the program disk, put the 2nd data disk into drive 1 while P
  86. Nprogram is saving to drive 2.  After the save is made to drive 1, replace the 
  87. program disk.
  88. ~E:<ESC>4<RETURN><RETURN><A-Q><RETURN>
  89. MThis macro is used all the time to review new TAWUG files.   What it does is O
  90. Mto delete the file from the desktop and then select the next file.  This way P
  91. Nwhen I have reviewed all the desktop files, I have a clean desktop onto which 
  92. I can load a new set.

  94. AppleWorks: Tips and Techniques
  95. , published by Sybex, you should be.  This N
  96. Lbook contains lots of tips, ideas, and shortcuts for AppleWorks.  Some will N
  97. Lseem to be old hat, but I'm sure you will find some new ideas.  If you have P
  98. Nthis book, or after you buy it, then you need his template disk.  It contains N
  99. Lupdate notes concerning the book, as well as the templates that he uses for O
  100. Mreference in the book.  In addition, there are 4 files of macros the he uses J
  101. Hwith AppleWorks.  This disk is copyrighted, so I can't share any of the P
  102. Ninformation with you.  However, the cost is only $12 and once you pay for it, M
  103. Kyou can share it with 2 friends.  (Robert even includes 2 extra labels for :
